Bacio is a great spot to start your night before heading to other parties. Smoking is permitted inside, but the space is well ventilated so it shouldn’t be too much of a bother for non-smokers. The cocktail menu is extensive and prices are standard for Taipei, mostly in the $300 – $400 range. Music is varied (the DJ is open to requests) but you can expect classic gay pop anthems to sing along to.

Bacio strikes a nice balance between classy cocktail bar and upbeat party venue, where it’s possible to have an intimate evening with friends at one of the tables (must be reserved in advance), socialize at the bar, or even dance in the space between. It’s usually busy on Friday and Saturday nights, but not nearly as overcrowded (or intense) as the nearby Abrazo. We love Bacio for this very reason: though the crowd is mostly local gay men, the friendly atmosphere welcomes everyone.

Its name means “kiss” in Italian, which fits nicely with the theme of love and acceptance - as they put it, “We hope to create an environment full of love so that anyone who steps into the doors of BACIO TAIPEI can be relaxed and comfortable to be who they truly are.” Bacio is located a short walk from Abrazo (one of the most popular gay bars in Taipei) but it’s much more relaxed and isn’t insanely packed inside. There’s a low-key gay bar in the Zhongxiao Fuxing / Dunhua area that makes a nice alternative to the usual LGBT spots in the city.
